About the Art: Vintage Radios in the Desert
Two original photographs merge into one for this surreal series. A friend who works at Amoeba Music in Hollywood also collects vintage radios. And since my artwork of vintage typewriters and cameras has been so popular, I photographed her collections too. When I received a surprise phone call announcing that I had been selected to exhibit at the recent Desert Trip, it prompted me to process all those photos. Also a lover of nature and entertaining myself with camera while visiting the desert, primarily Joshua Tree where I have a vacation rental (JoshuaTreeTypeInn.com
), I superimposed the cameras onto desert landscapes.
It was the perfect statement for how our local desert has become a meeting ground for musicians and music lovers. It was a chance of a lifetime to be able to listen to my favorite musicians both weekends, sell my artwork and meet wonderful people from all over the world.
